Nelly Ah-Kang
Senior Talent Acquisition Specialist
Where are you from/where do you live?
I’m originally from Reunion Island, a French territory located off the coast of Madagascar. I went to pursue my university studies at the University of Western Australia in Perth, and I’ve been living in Singapore since 2015.
When did you join Proxima, and what was exciting about the opportunity?
I initially joined ArcBlue, Proxima’s former affiliate company under Bain & Co, in October 2023, and I was really drawn to the company as I wanted to join a team that is specialized and focused on providing a strong customer-centric approach in their work. I officially transitioned to Proxima in 2025 as the company evolves into a global organization.
What is your role as a Senior Talent Acquisition Specialist?
I manage the end-to-end recruitment process for a variety of consulting roles across our APAC teams. This includes partnering closely with our leadership team, proactively engaging with talent in the market, and cultivating a strong talent network to promote Proxima as an employer of choice.
What does a typical day look like?
My days are centered around partnering closely with our business leaders to assess hiring needs and attract top talent for our consulting practice. My role is also very exciting in a way that I could be speaking to various people in different parts of the world within just a day.
What are the most common questions you get from applicants?
One of the most common questions I receive is, ‚What’s the work environment like?‘ I usually describe it as close-knit teams led by experienced and supportive leaders, a culture that values results over office face time, and flexible work arrangements to manage personal commitments effectively.
What do you like most about your job?
I get to make a real and meaningful impact to the business: hiring the right people is the very first step towards success and growth. It’s also a rewarding experience to see a successful hire thrive in their role and actively contribute to the organization’s journey.
What are you most proud of about working at Proxima?
Our transformation into a global firm amid a competitive landscape reflects Proxima’s strength, resilience, and readiness to lead on an international scale. It’s an exciting time for the business, and I am grateful to be part of this growth journey.
What do you like to do when you aren’t working?
Outside of work, I enjoy staying active and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. In addition to going to the gym, I’ve been working on running more regularly and recently started playing pickleball. Singapore is also very safe, which makes it enjoyable to cycle around with friends and discover different neighborhoods, new restaurants, and Singapore’s hawker centers.
